I'm particular about my purses in general. The leather needs to be thick, well sewn, and have a nice grain to it. The compartments need to be plentiful, spacious, and in convenient locations. The style has to be timeless. I've been looking for years for a concealed carry purse that meets these criteria – and the Emma is IT.
The metal - buckles, clasps, zippers, locking mechanisms - seems to be high quality. The leather is gorgeous - the perfect luggage tan. The whip-stitch detail on the edges is every bit as pretty in person. But my favorite, non-gun-related detail is the four metal nub feet on the base, to keep the bottom from getting worn and too dirty. Tons of room for my Dooney wallet, cell, etc. on the inside.
I'm tall (6'2"), and I have large hands, so I favor a larger-sized pistol to carry. Even with the measurements given for the conceal pocket, my husband was sure my Sig P226 tacops wouldn't fit in there (I call him Big Daddy ... the gun, not my husband). But it fits perfectly. Not too snug so that it's difficult to pull out at a moment's notice. The inside front of the carry compartment is all solid velcro, and the included cloth holster fits and works good. I don't think I'll use it because the gun large enough so that it doesn't jostle around, but I can see it being a useful extra for compacts/revolvers.
My only (very minor) qualm is with the locking mechanisms ... it takes a couple seconds of fiddling to get the lock to engage/disengage, so I can see that being problematic if you need to get to your weapon in a hurry. Perhaps with a little practice it'll get easier, or just leave unlocked and keep her close.
Do not hesitate to get this bag, it's well worth the price.
