The tape is BLACK even if it looks lighter in the images. TruGrip is designed to be easily replaceable. Just keep in mind that when it loses traction, it is probably because it is loaded up with dirt and oil. Try to clean it up some with alcohol and a toothbrush, or just peel it off and slap on a new piece.
